The Leg-Up Ranch, located in Julian, offers free horseback riding adventures to people facing serious life challenges. Founder Stephanie Brehm shares her ranch with families stricken by serious life-threatening illnesses and those recovering from severe injuries. After her son was diagnosed with leukemia, Brehm began the ranch as a sanctuary for sick children with the hope that they would learn to enjoy nature and live each day to the fullest. She offered to share her ranch, her horses and her day with the Outdoor Outreach adventure club with students from Lincoln Heights High School.
